National quick guide

Clear preparation. Official decisions.

These are general preparedness steps—not live alerts, a shelter reservation, or an evacuation order. Follow official local instructions.

Know your local source

Keep your county emergency-management website and local alert system saved. Conditions, routes, and shelter rules are local.

Plan for your needs

Record medications, clinicians, mobility or communication needs, backup power, transportation, caregivers, documents, food, water, and pets.

Evacuation and shelters

Leave when officials direct you. Confirm shelter conditions from an official source; do not assume a listed shelter has space or accepts pets.

When connectivity fails

Keep paper copies of your plan, contacts, and documents. For immediate danger call 911. For local community resources call 211.

Emergency boundary

SafeZone does not dispatch responders, determine official zones, or promise current shelter availability. Call 911 directly for immediate danger.
